Stop!!!!!!!!

Before you read this make sure you watch the video above talking about whether or not your network marketing business opportunity even matters. I had my partner Curtis Royse with me to share with my blog faithful’s and the better networker community, why YOU are the only thing that really matters in this industry.

Yeah you can have the best network marketing business opportunity in the world, but without a way to market that opportunity what do you really have?

A whole lot of vitamin juice sitting your garage!

Here is a forum post that I put on the BetterNetworker.

This forum thread ended up getting like 45 posts, and there was some heated arguments on the matter. I think that I won! : ).

No not really. In all seriousness there was great points made by both sides, and I might have been putting a little too much emphasis on the importance of YOU and not your network marketing business opportunity, but you can make that decision for yourself.

I have not edited the forum post at all so there might be some typos, and I might call out a couple of people individually, but I think it is still easy to understand.

*Short on time? Pick up a copy of my famous book One of a MIL into One of a KIND to learn how to apply all of the principles that I teach.*

Anyway, here it it:

But i still think that I disagree with your take on product over marketing. I mean they do call this network marketing and not network producting.

I don’t think that it is about the person with the best product that wins in network marketing. It just can’t be.

Or else everybody would succeed in the good product companies, and everyone would fail in the bad product companies.

But i do think that a fair amount fail and succeed in each. It has nothing to do with the product that they are selling, but the way that they are selling the product.

Does Mcdonald’s have the best hamburgers?

No of course not.

Did they go out and market their hamburgers the best?

O yeah.

And are they making a killing?

O yeah.

This summer I sold Cutco Knives. Now these knives were literally the best knives in the world. You could not go out and find a better brand of knives anywhere. Each and every knife is hand crafted in the United States (great selling point around my town . The handles are made out of the same material as bowling balls. They were designed to fit directly to your hands. The blades were made out of the same material that doctors use in their surgical instruments. They are the sharpest knives that you can find anywhere.

They were just beautiful knives, and quite frankly a GREAT product.

There were 20 kids in my small town that got hired for the job, which at the time, I thought that was a lot of kids.

We were all selling the same product in the same area to basically the same people. I do live in a real small town. Not a real wealthy town, and these knives were dang expensive.

First day of work we all went out there trying to sell these knives. We all loved it.

We got to make our own hours. Work as much or as little as we wanted. It seemed to be a fantastic job at the time.

Except a funny thing happened. No one esle could sell them at all. I mean these were the best knives in the world. They gave us the script and everything. We all used the same exact words in our presentation. We were bound to succeed right? Wrong!

I was the only person out of the 20 that got hired to sell over 1000 dollars worth of knives week in and week out.

I was the only person out of the 20 that brought home triple digit paychecks everweek(I know it wasn’t very much money at all)

We were all doing the same thing, selling the same product, talking to the same people, using the same presentation, yet I was the only one leaving the house with the check.

Some said it was because I could close the deal better than the others. I had a bit more confidence in my closing than the other 19 kids, but that’s not the real reason why I sold more than them.

The reason why I brought home bigger checks was very simple..

I talked to more people. I would sit on the phone for hours on end just calling people, making appointments, and it worked for me.

I had marketed the product to more people than anyone else, I had gotten more appointments than anyone else, and I made more money than anyone else.

That is why I say marketing is key.

Here is another example.

So we think that the best “vitamin juice” (I put that in quotes because I do realize that not ever company sells vitamin juice, but many MLMs revolve around the health industry) would do best in this industry..?

Right?

Well then it’s experiment time.

Let’s go grab a folding table, a 20 pack of the best, coldest vitamin juice that you got, a sign, and a jar.

You set up the folding table. You set the 20 pack next to the jar on top. Then you tape the sign saying “best vitamin juice in the world to it”

(the jar is for the cash of course .

You can even go in and grab a chair to sit out there and wait.

How many bottles of that vitamin juice do you think that you would sell?

You could leave it there for a couple of weeks even. People might even walk by, and just like you said tell others, but do you think that anyone would buy it?

I highly doubt it. You might sell a few.

But without marketing a great product, it will just be a product.

If you set the worst vitamin juice ever out there, but you this time you marketed it, how many do you think that you would sell?

Maybe none, but if just one person out of the hundreds that saw the ads bought, you would have just made infinity times as much money as you did the first time.

And I am not saying that the marketing is all that matters because it is not.

There is only so long that a person can market a product that they do not believe in before it drives them crazy, I know that.

It is important to have a good product.

But at the same time they called it network marketing for a reason.

I am sure that some might not agree with some of the things that I might have said in that forum thread, and that’s okay.

Take what you can out, and leave the rest.

Some of that forum post was in the video also, but do I like to re-emphasize things sometimes.

You do want to have the best network marketing business opportunity possible. You don’t want to be going out there and getting all of these guys into your business, and then come to find out that you aren’t making any money off of them because your compensation plan sucks.

BUT then again, if you are just using the compensation plan as an excuse of why you are failing and there really isn’t even any people in your downline…

Well congrats you would be my biggest pet peeve

*But yeah go over to the sidebar over there and check out my 7 Day Marketing Challenge for the best 7 days of your life!*

Well maybe not, but they for sure won’t be the worst!

To your dreams becoming reality,

Landon Stewart
